"Since 1984, The Demographic and Health Surveys Program has provided technical assistance to more than 300 surveys in over 90 countries. The DHS Program has earned a worldwide reputation for collecting and disseminating accurate, nationally representative data on topics such as fertility, family planning, maternal and child health, gender, HIV/AIDS, malaria, nutrition, and environmental health. Health information is collected through interviews with women and men, as well as collection of biological samples to test for HIV and other STIs, malaria, vitamin deficiencies, and many other health conditions." (USAID Brochure)

"The Living Standards Measurement Study (LSMS) is a household survey program housed within the Survey Unit of the World Bank's Development Data Group that provides technical assistance to national statistical offices (NSOs) in the design and implementation of multi-topic household surveys. The LSMS team also provides technical support across the World Bank in the design and implementation of household surveys and in the measurement and monitoring of poverty." (World Bank LSMS program)

"Since its inception in 1995, the Multiple Indicator Cluster Surveys, known as MICS, has become the largest source of statistically sound and internationally comparable data on women and children worldwide. Trained fieldwork teams conduct face-to-face interviews with household members on a variety of topics – focusing mainly on those issues that directly affect the lives of children and women. " (UNICEF, MICS Program)

"The European Social Survey (ESS) is an academically driven cross-national survey that has been conducted across Europe since its establishment in 2001. Every two years, face-to-face interviews are conducted with newly selected, cross-sectional samples. The survey measures the attitudes, beliefs and behaviour patterns of diverse populations in more than thirty nations." (ESS)

"The Russia Longitudinal Monitoring Survey (RLMS) is a series of nationally representative surveys designed to monitor the effects of Russian reforms on the health and economic welfare of households and individuals in the Russian Federation. These effects are measured by a variety of means: detailed monitoring of individuals' health status and dietary intake, precise measurement of household-level expenditures and service utilization, and collection of relevant community-level data, including region-specific prices and community infrastructure data. Phase II data have been collected annually (with two exceptions) since 1994." (RLMS)
